Costs and timelines
How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Sydney?+
A custom kitchen renovation in Sydney typically costs $30,000 to $50,000 for a focused refresh with quality joinery and mid-tier appliances, $50,000 to $100,000 for a fully bespoke kitchen with premium stone and integrated European appliances, and $100,000+ for architectural projects with solid timber and natural stone. A-Plan provides a fixed, itemised quote after your design consultation so you know the exact cost before work begins.
How long does a kitchen renovation take?+
A bespoke kitchen takes 6 to 12 weeks from signed contract to final fit-off. Design and approval takes 2 to 4 weeks, cabinetry manufacture takes 4 to 6 weeks (built in Sydney while site preparation happens in parallel), and site works and installation take 1 to 2 weeks. A-Plan gives you a clear timeline during planning and keeps you informed throughout.
How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Sydney?+
A full bathroom renovation in Sydney typically costs $25,000 to $35,000 for a functional refresh with quality fixtures and standard tiling, $35,000 to $60,000 for a bespoke bathroom with custom joinery and floor-to-ceiling large-format tiles, and $60,000+ for architectural bathrooms with freestanding stone baths and custom stone vanities. Waterproofing, tiling and fixtures drive most of the budget.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?+
A full bathroom takes 3 to 6 weeks from strip-out to handover. Design and selections take 1 to 3 weeks, strip-out and rough-in take 3 to 5 days, waterproofing and tiling take 1 to 2 weeks (including membrane cure time), and fit-off and handover take 3 to 5 days. Waterproofing cure time is the variable most people underestimate.
How much does a laundry renovation cost?+
A custom laundry renovation in Sydney typically costs $10,000 to $25,000. A functional laundry with cabinetry, benchtop and basic plumbing starts around $10,000, while a fully fitted laundry with stone benchtops, integrated appliances and custom storage sits between $15,000 and $25,000. Combining a laundry with a bathroom renovation in a single project reduces total cost.
Warranty and quality
What warranty does A-Plan provide on cabinetry?+
A-Plan provides a 10-year warranty on custom cabinetry, covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. Cabinetry is manufactured in Sydney to ISO 9001-2015 quality standards, which is why the warranty period is meaningful rather than notional. Blum hardware carries its own manufacturer warranty on top.
What warranty applies to stonework, appliances and trades?+
Stone benchtops carry the manufacturer's warranty (typically 10 to 15 years for engineered stone from Caesarstone or Silestone). Appliances carry the manufacturer's warranty (usually 2 to 5 years). Plumbing, electrical and waterproofing work is certified by licensed tradespeople and covered by their respective statutory warranties under NSW home building law.
What happens if there is a defect after installation?+
Contact A-Plan directly and we will assess and rectify the issue under warranty. Because A-Plan manufactures its own cabinetry and manages every trade, there is a single point of contact for after-installation service. We have honoured this commitment since 1984.
Process and approvals
What is the process from first consultation to installation?+
The process has seven steps: a free design consultation at the Camperdown showroom, custom concept design, material and finish selections, final drawings with fixed pricing and timeline, cabinetry manufacture in Sydney, on-site installation with trade coordination, and handover with a complimentary clean. One designer owns your project from concept to completion.
Do I need council approval for a kitchen or bathroom renovation?+
Most kitchen and bathroom renovations in NSW do not need council approval if the work is like-for-like and does not change the room's footprint. However, any new plumbing, electrical or waterproofing must be certified by a licensed tradesperson and, where required, covered by a complying development certificate. Adding a new bathroom where one did not exist, or changing the drainage layout, may require council approval. A-Plan coordinates these certifications as part of the installation.
Does A-Plan handle council approval and certifications?+
Yes. A-Plan coordinates all required certifications, including plumbing, electrical and waterproofing compliance, and complying development certificates where needed. You do not need to manage certifiers or trades yourself; A-Plan is your single point of contact.
Do you provide fixed-price quotes?+
Yes. After the design consultation and material selections, A-Plan provides a fixed, itemised quote covering joinery, trades and materials. There are no cost surprises once work begins, provided the scope does not change.
Practical questions
Can I finance my renovation?+
Many clients finance kitchen and bathroom renovations through their mortgage or a personal loan. A-Plan does not provide finance directly, but we can stage your project to align with your budget and provide the documentation your lender may need. Discuss timing options with your designer at the consultation.
Do you renovate bathrooms, laundries and wardrobes as well as kitchens?+
Yes. A-Plan designs and builds bathrooms, laundries, wardrobes, custom joinery and home offices, often as part of a single coordinated renovation. Combining rooms in one project reduces total cost and disruption.
Where is the A-Plan showroom?+
The A-Plan showroom is at 208 Parramatta Road, Camperdown NSW 2050. Opening hours are Monday 9am to 3pm, Tuesday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 10am to 4pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm. Book a free design consultation so a designer can dedicate time to your project.
Can you work with apartments and strata?+
Yes. Many A-Plan projects are in Sydney apartments and Inner West terraces where space, access and strata considerations matter. Our designers are experienced in strata-compliant installations, space-smart layouts and access-constrained sites.
Do you manufacture your own cabinetry?+
Yes. A-Plan manufactures its own joinery in Sydney to ISO 9001-2015 quality standards. This removes a reseller markup that most renovators pay, and gives full control over quality and lead times.
Do you project manage all the trades?+
Yes. A-Plan provides professional project management, coordinating plumbers, electricians, stonemasons, waterprooofers and installers. You have a single point of contact throughout and do not need to manage trades yourself.
